One supplier for the whole plant

Most plants run a dozen different oils: slideway oil on the machine tools, spindle oil on the grinders, chain oil on the conveyors and kiln cars, quenching oil in the heat-treatment shop and rust preventive on finished parts going into stores.

Industrial Oils FAQs

 

What is the difference between slideway oil and hydraulic oil?
Slideway oil is made to cling to machine guideways and help prevent stick-slip, so the table moves smoothly and holds accuracy. Hydraulic oil is made to flow through pumps and valves. Using hydraulic oil on the ways can cause stick-slip, so use the oil the machine builder specifies for each system.
Which spindle oil grade do I need?
It follows the spindle speed and bearing design: faster spindles generally take a thinner grade. Our spindle oils run from ISO 2 to 32. Use the grade the machine builder specifies, or send us the machine details and we will confirm.
What do fast, medium, slow and bright quenching oils mean?
They describe how quickly the oil cools the part. The right speed depends on the steel grade, the section size and the hardness and distortion limits of the part. Bright quenching oils are chosen when a clean, bright surface is wanted after hardening. Your heat-treatment process decides which one to use.
Do you supply industrial oils in bulk?
Yes. Industrial oils are supplied in 210 L barrels (180 kg) for bulk use. Ask us for smaller packs and distributor terms.
Can you make a grade that is not listed?
Yes. We make custom grades and private-label packs. Tell us the application and the specification you need.
